Certificate Programs

A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary Certificate Programs

Some individuals may not desire a graduate degree from the seminary; instead they seek to complete basic coursework in order to understand God’s Word. At times, certificates will help an individual meet the requirement for a ministry credential such as licensure. Using our seminary curriculum, Tozer Seminary offers a Certificate in Biblical Studies for the completion of the following courses:

Certificate in Biblical Studies Curriculum Requirements (18 units)

  • BI 6005 Biblical Interpretation (3 units)
  • BI 6100 Pursuing Wisdom (3 units)
  • OT 6211 Pentateuch (3 units)
  • OT 6213 Kings and Prophets (3 units)
  • NT 6211 Gospels & Johannine Literature (3 units)
  • NT 6212 Acts & Pauline Literature (3 units)

Suggested Sequencing of Courses:

New students should consult with the Dean’s office for advice regarding sequencing courses after completing the admissions process with an enrollment advisor. Course offerings for certificate level students follow the general sequence suggested in the Master of Divinity and/or Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership programs.

Certificate in Christian Ministry (30 credits)

This is a basic certificate level training program, offered via A.W. Tozer Theological Seminary, moves an individual towards ministry licensure requirements within the Christian & Missionary Alliance. This program meets the minimum 30 credit educational requirement of the Manual of the Christian and Missionary Alliance from an accredited institution.

3 credits (all classes)

  • Bl 6010 Survey of the Old Testament
  • Bl 6020 Survey of the New Testament
  • Bl 6005 Biblical Interpretation
  • Bl 6030 Exegetical Skills Using Electronic Biblical Research
  • BI XXXX Bible Elective

THEOLOGY CRITERIA

  • TH 6050 Introduction to Theology
  • ML 6030 Alliance Ministry

MINISTRY SKILLS CRITERIA

  • DM 6000 Spiritual Formation & Discipleship
  • DM 6050 Evangelism & Community Engagement
  • ML 6045 Pastoral Leadership

Survey and introduction classes/credits NOT applicable to use toward master’s degrees.

Licensing within the C&MA is supervised by each local district. While these credits meet the minimum educational requirements, other requirements exist for licensing. Please consult with your district office for additional information.
